Only two weeks after we’ve won the Content Award with our second game Tight Lines Fishing we’ve got another prize! In stiff competition against Wooga’s “Diamond Dash” and Bigpoint’s “Skyrama”, Tight Lines Fishing was voted Social Game of the Year at the German Game Developer Awards held Düsseldorf.

Our CEO Helmuts reaction after the announcment: “The incredibly positive feedback we’ve received from gaming fans and the press has shown that we have touched a nerve with Tight Lines Fishing. By creating highly-immersive, quality experiences on social platforms around the World, we’re showing the World that Vienna’s game development industry is alive and well, in addition to proving stiff competition to some of the largest social games developers around the World”.

This is a guest post from our Audio-Guy Lukas Hasitschka from Sound42 about the creation of the sound for Tight Lines Fishing.

What I enjoy most about doing game audio is when you completely understand the developers wishes. When Helmut from Socialspiel and me were brainstorming and he told me: “we need fish, countryside and a little urban touch” I felt challenged but I knew what to do. So after composing the melody and fixing the tempo, I decided to let the countryside reflect through “soft-cliché” instruments. Instead of recording harps and banjos, I asked Paul to play it with Ukuleles and Melodicas. We tried out the rhythm with electronic beats and synth-bass, which turned out to be too hard, so I played the drums myself. To mix the Ukulele-Melodica Cocktail with acoustic drums gave the theme its little extra.

Producing the second track and the sounds was like going on holiday. I took my Sony PCM-D50 and made a trip to Admont in Styria. For the atmo, fishing rods and fish-sound design, the area was perfect. I took my guitar, sat beneath a tree and just played a melody while looking at the wide landscape. It took some hours and I got it. The rest was studio work with Paul, who played it, and me doing percussion.

Making the audio for Tight Lines Fishing was great, due to very inspiring moments and funny situations with owners of a fishing pond. Helmut Hutterer and the team of Socialspiel made a great social game and gave us the possibility to let it sound great!

Today we are very proud to announce that we have officially launched our second game Tight Lines Fishing on Facebook.

Tight Lines Fishing is a social game where players compete amongst each other online to catch the biggest fish. But it doesn’t stop there. You can train your skills, customize and equip better gear to catch bigger fish and explore the unique and colorful world. While exploring, you will meet new friends and funny characters who have tricky quests for you to fulfill and lots of fisherman’s stories to tell.

At the start of the game, you inherit a piece of land from your uncle, a prestigious fisherman and fearless adventurer. Marv, a cranky old guy and the oldest, dearest friend of the family agrees to become your mentor and teaches you not only all there is to know about fishing, but also prepares you for exciting future adventures.

Tight Lines Fishing tells a story and provides a colorful and cartoony representation of the real world. Even though the game has a realistic background, it is most important to create a fun experience. To achieve that, Tight Lines Fishing does not take itself too seriously. NPC’s in the game are eccentric and have funny stories to tell. Most of the fish exist in reality, but some of them do not. Want to search for Moby Dick or finally prove the existence of the monster of Loch Ness? This will be all possible in the world of Tight Lines Fishing.

As our launch is at the same time as Halloween, we are starting with an awesome Halloween special! Decorate your Home Area with Tombstones, Pumpkins and try to catch the biggest Zombie fish! Happy Halloween!

Click here to play Tight Lines Fishing: https://www.facebook.com/tightlinesfishing
